“ANLCA Is Mother Of All Associations, It is A Shame To Watch It Crash” – NAGAFF Chieftain

The National Coordinator of the 100% Compliance Team of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko has expressed disappointment that the crises rocking the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) have lingered for so long.

TANKO IBRAHIM

He also told our correspondents last week that, it was shameful that other freight forwarding associations were watching the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents and waiting for it to crash under the weight of the crises which have become prolonged for more than four years.

Tanko, who is also a member of the governing council of the Council for the Regulations of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) affirmed that ANLCA is the mother of all freight forwarding associations in Nigeria, and that anyone happy with the present situation of ANLCA does not even know what he is doing.

The NAGAFF Chieftain, who confirmed that he was once a member of ANLCA, added that all other freight forwarding associations sprang up from ANLCA.

“I was formerly a member of ANLCA. In fact, everyone came out from ANLCA. It is a shame for all of us to watch ANLCA crashing. If ANLCA crash, then all of us are crashing”, he stated.

Speaking further, he said: “I am not happy. Anyone who tells you that he is happy with the present situation of ANLCA does not even know what he is saying”.

Tanko, while giving a background into how other associations started out said that the National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents (NCMDLCA)was the first to be birthed out of ANLCA, added that others, including the NAGAFF later broke away.

Going down memory lane, Tanko recalled that: “We are all from ANLCA; before forming the National Council of Managing Directors in 1996 when the issue of the blockage of license sprang up. It is the same ANLCA people that came out to form the National Council of Managing Directors when we said they should go back and fight for our license. Afterwards, these other associations like NAGAFF and others started springing up”.

According to him, “ANLCA is the mother of all associations and it is not good for us to look at it crashing. That is when we are putting heads together to make sure that there is peace in that place”.
