Apapa Customs Command Rakes-in N23.4Billion In August

The Apapa Area 1 Command of the Nigeria Customs Service said yesterday that it collected N23.4 billion revenue in August.
A statement issued by the command in Lagos identified the sources of the revenue as federation fees, non-federation levies and negotiable duty credit certificate.  
It said that the federation fees fetched N13.7 billion, while non-federation revenues amounted to N8.7 billion.

It said that the federation fees fetched N13.7 billion, while non-federation revenues amounted to N8.7 billion.
The federation fees included import duties which fetched the highest of N10.3 billion, fees and others amounted to N8.4 million and common external tariffs N3.3 billion
 It said that the non-federation revenues included the five per cent VAT from which it realised N4.7 billion and N794 million from the seven per cent port levy.
The command also realised N1.4 billion from the one per cent comprehensive import supervision scheme.
Other sources of non-federation revenues included the 0.5 per cent ECOWAS Trade Liberation Scheme amounting to N800 million and five per cent sugar levy which brought in N136.5 million.
The command also realised N697.2million from the 20 per cent rice levy, N881.4 million from Iron levy and N119.03 million from the 100 per cent cigarette levy.
The command said that it realised N1 billion from negotiable duty credit certificate during the month.
