The Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) has expressed its appreciation to the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adawale Adeniyi MFR, for his approval of a five-day Administrative and Operational Awareness Training program for Declarants (Agents).
The workshop, which took place from the 11th to the 15th of March at the Customs Training College in Ikeja, witnessed a remarkable turnout and was deemed a resounding success by attendees. Aimed at providing comprehensive insight and guidance on emerging administrative and operational trends in the Customs Clearance Process, the training underscored the commitment of the NCS to human capital development.
In a statement released by APFFLON National President Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, the association praised the CGC for his dedication to advancing the skills and knowledge of freight forwarders, highlighting the significant role such training plays in enhancing professionalism within the industry. The association also extended gratitude to all freight forwarders who participated in the program, emphasizing their eagerness to expand their expertise.
Furthermore, APFFLON urged the CGC to continue engaging stakeholders in initiatives such as World Customs Organization (WCO) programs and other international conferences, emphasizing the positive impact of such engagements on individual participants and the industry as a whole.
Expanding their commendations, APFFLON lauded the Lagos State Governor; Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the decision to open up the Apapa Port corridor. The move, described as heroic by the association, is expected to significantly improve access to the port and enhance safety for maritime stakeholders. APFFLON expressed hope that the collaborative effort would lead to sustained positive changes in the port area.
In addition to the workshop and the opening of the Apapa Port corridor, APFFLON commended authorities for clearing shanties along port access roads, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean and professional environment in international business areas.
