Following the explosion that occurred at the Atlas Cove Jetty of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as a result of activities of vandals, tank farm operators have assured that the explosion will not lead to product scarcity.
Chairman of the stakeholders committee of tank farm operators within the Ibafon-Ibru tank farm, Mr. Godfrey Okorie told Shipping Position Daily that there is sufficient product currently in circulation.

Chairman of the stakeholders committee of tank farm operators within the Ibafon-Ibru tank farm, Mr. Godfrey Okorie told Shipping Position Daily that there is sufficient product currently in circulation.
He told our correspondent in a phone chat last week that the depots are currently bubbling with activities and that there is no cause for alarm.
Also confirming this position, Operations Manager of First Deepwater petroleum tank farm, Mr. Sunday Okpithe in a phone chat with our correspondent expressed optimisms that the pipeline explosion will not lead to fuel scarcity.
According to him, if the Mosimi depot of the NNPC is having enough products as at the time of the explosion, this will sustain consumers pending the completion of repair works on the pipeline.
"We just have to believe what the NNPC have said that the explosion will not affect fuel distribution"
"Except Mosimi is having enough fuel before this explosion it might affect their operations, but since they have said it will not affect, this means that Mosimi have enough stock to sustain the period of repair" Okpithe said
Speaking further, he assured that "There is product in the market, so I don't think there will be any problem"
