The Carnival Cruise ship, named “MARDI GRAS,” successfully conducted a rescue operation in the early hours of August 7th, saving a couple from a sailboat. The sailboat had become stranded approximately 20 nautical miles off the coast of Castle Island, Bahamas.
Upon receiving a distress call from the US Coast Guard, the officers on board the MARDI GRAS promptly initiated the rescue mission. After a thorough search spanning two hours, the stranded sailboat was located. With precision, the cruise vessel approached the distressed sailboat, and a dedicated rescue boat was lowered from the MARDI GRAS to effect the rescue operation. By approximately 1 AM on August 7th, the successful rescue mission had concluded.
The couple, both of whom are US citizens, were efficiently rescued and brought on board. Following their rescue, the man was promptly admitted to the onboard medical center, where he is currently receiving the necessary care. Presently, no further details regarding their condition have been made available to the public.
