The basic salary of Chinese seafarers’ will rise by 7% from early next year compared to the standards maintained in the previous year. The country vessel owners have also accepted this.
China National Committee of the Chinese Seaman & Construction Workers’ Union and China Shipowner’s Association are ready to sign 2022’s version of CBA – the Chinese Seaman Collective Bargaining Agreement. The same will come into effect from the first day of next year.
The agreement comes with a document that covers the enhancement of employment benefits amidst the ongoing pandemic.
For Chinese seamen, this means a 7% increase in their base salary and guidelines for guaranteed wage, vacations, and onboard working and living conditions of the crew members.
In 2009, the China National Committee of the Chinese Seaman & Construction Workers’ Union and China Shipowner’s Association put forward a collective negotiation working policy. The latter plays an undeniable role in augmenting the stable and healthy development of the maritime industry and ensuring the legitimate interests and rights of the seaman.
