The flag-off ceremony for the hydrographic survey of the Bakassi Deep Sea Port Area has been conducted at the Nigerian Navy Ship VICTORY Jetty last weekend.
The determination of the Cross River State Government to construct a 20 meter deep sea port at Bakassi and boost shipping activities in the eastern flank of the Country necessitated the survey of the proposed seaport
The ceremony was witnessed by state Governor; Senator Bassey Otu, the Chief of Naval Staff who was represented by the Flag Officer Commanding East Naval Command, Rear Admiral Saheed Akinwande, the Hydrographer of the Federation, Rear Admiral Ayo Olugbode, Speaker of the state House of Assembly, representatives of AFREXIM and ARISE IIP, principal members of the state government, industry stakeholders, the Paramount Ruler of Akpabuyo LGA and others.
The flag off proper was conducted onboard NNS LANA around government officials to signify the official commencement of the survey.
