The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Uyo Branch, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening professional ties with the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron, Akwa Ibom State, during a recent courtesy visit aimed at advancing maritime, logistics, transport education, and supply chain management across the country.

Led by the Chairman of CILT, Uyo Branch, Mr. Itoro Okon Effiong, the delegation, including key officers from the Oron, Calabar, and Next Generation branches engaged with the management team of the Academy to consolidate an enduring relationship between the two institutions.

In his address, Effiong congratulated the newly appointed Acting Rector of MAN Oron, Dr. Kevin Okonna, praising his remarkable achievements in maritime leadership and educational development.

“We are here to strengthen the professional relationship CILT established with the Academy and to congratulate the newly appointed Acting Rector,” Effiong said. “Your appointment is timely, considering the need for visionary leadership to add value to the maritime and logistics sectors, which are undergoing significant global and local transformations.”

He further emphasized the pivotal role played by the Academy in training seafarers and maritime professionals across Nigeria and Africa, in line with CILT Nigeria’s professional goals.

“We believe that by fostering strong professional partnerships with institutions like the Maritime Academy, we can jointly address critical industry challenges such as capacity building, technological advancement, and policy alignment with international standards,” Effiong added.

In his response, Dr. Okonna expressed appreciation for the visit, lauding CILT’s dedication to maritime and logistics education. He assured the delegation of the Academy’s readiness to continue supporting CILT’s initiatives toward professional development in the sector.

As part of the visit, the CILT delegation presented a commemorative portrait to Dr. Okonna, honoring him as a distinguished member of the Institute.
