The Magistrate, Mrs M.B. Folami, granted bail to the accused, 40, after he pleaded not guilty to stealing the sum from Mr Douglas Eichie.
Ebube, who resides at 9, Adewale Ifade Street, Off Pako Bus Stop, Ikotun, Lagos, is standing trial on a three-count charge of breach of peace, obtaining by false pretences and stealing.
The prosecutor, ASP Nicholas Atumonye, told the court that the agent committed the offences on Dec. 17, 2012 at 15 Tadebola Street, Ijegun, Lagos.
Atumonye alleged that the suspect collected the money from Eichie under the false pretences of clearing a 40-feet container for him.
He said that the accused neither cleared the container nor returned the money, in contravention of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
Further hearing in the case comes up on June 26.
