Cotecna, global trade testing, inspection and certification (TIC) giant, has been appointed officially by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), to join Nigeria’s revised Standards Organisation of Nigeria Conformity Assessment Programme (SONCAP).
Based on Act 56 of 1971 and subsequent amendments, the Conformity Assessment Programme (SONCAP) was introduced by the Federal Government of Nigeria to address the concern of unsafe products entering the country.

Based on Act 56 of 1971 and subsequent amendments, the Conformity Assessment Programme (SONCAP) was introduced by the Federal Government of Nigeria to address the concern of unsafe products entering the country.
As part of the SONCAP programme, Cotecna carries out the Verification of Conformity of imported goods and issues Certificates of Conformity (CoC) in the country of origin.
Robert Massey, Cotecna’s Chief Executive Officer, said “Cotecna is proud to continue its partnership with the Nigerian government as a service provider since 1984, with this new contract destined to protect Nigerian consumers from counterfeit or dangerous goods.”
In a similar development, Cotecna has won a seven-year contract with the government of the Republic of Burundi. The trade inspection firm will be required to reinforce the operational capacities of the National Security and Customs of Burundi. In addition to training staff, the Swiss company will install scanners to facilitate trade inspection, and security in the East African country.
