CRFFN Showcases Reform Milestones, Dismisses Court Ruling Misinterpretation

The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has reiterated its legal mandate and unveiled a series of reform-driven achievements aimed at transforming Nigeria’s freight forwarding landscape, while downplaying the impact of a recent court ruling that has stirred controversy within the industry.

Addressing journalists on Friday at the Conference Hall of the Nigeria Institute of Freight Forwarding (NIFF) in Abuja, the Registrar/CEO of the Council, Mr Kingsley Igwe emphasized that the regulatory body remains firmly grounded in the CRFFN Act No. 16 of 2007. He warned against deliberate misinterpretation of the court’s processes, stressing that such actions are capable of inciting unrest and undermining lawful port operations.

Rather than dwell on the legal tussle, the CRFFN Registrar used the platform to spotlight sweeping reforms and developmental strides that have redefined its institutional structure and public image. He revealed that under the current administration, internal peace and administrative stability have been restored, paving the way for enhanced performance, accountability, and governance.

“Today, the Council operates with a performance-driven culture anchored on transparency and consistency,” the Registrar noted, adding that systemic inefficiencies and leadership crises that once plagued the agency are now firmly in the past.

The Council’s repositioning efforts, he said, are aimed not only at strengthening internal capacity but also at repositioning Nigeria as a regional hub for logistics and freight services.

Calling for industry-wide cooperation, Igwe urged freight forwarding associations and practitioners to resist divisive politics and support the ongoing reforms. The Council emphasized that unity is essential to unlocking the sector’s full potential.

“This is a time for consolidation, not regression,” the Registrar asserted. “CRFFN is not just regulating; it is rebuilding the freight forwarding profession for long-term growth.”

The Council’s Registrar concluded by reaffirming its dedication to professionalism, innovation, and stakeholder engagement, noting that with continued support from the Federal Government and industry actors, Nigeria is on course to become a globally competitive freight and logistics powerhouse.
