The rainy season is an anchor of nostalgia for many. Along with a chill climate and the pleasant and calming sound of rain showers, the season also brings with it a whole bunch of health issues. This season puts a strain on your body’s immune system, from the ordinary cold to more serious diseases.

Luckily, for us, we can resist these illnesses by simply altering our diet consciously.

Now let’s explore some of the best foods to boost your immunity during the rainy season.

Turmeric and Ginger

Turmeric and ginger, this powerful combo tops the list of the foods that can improve your immunity levels during the rainy season.

Ginger can help you to fight infections and soothe your throat pain, which is very common during the rainy season. On the other hand, curcumin, which has strong immune-boosting qualities, is abundant in your daily turmeric powder. Whether you use them in curries, teas, or soups, adding them a little to your diet can help boost your immunity.

Citrus Fruits

Citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, and limes are among the best foods to boost your immunity during the rainy season, which is essential for strengthening your immune system.

White blood cells, which are essential for battling infections, are produced more often when vitamin C is present. During the rainy season, if you decide to take just a portion of citrus fruits every day, it will take charge of your immunity and prevent colds and flu.

Garlic

There’s a solid reason why garlic has been used medicinally for ages.

It is because it includes a substance called allicin, which strengthens the immune system. If you catch a cold, garlic can lessen the intensity of the cold and help fight common illnesses. This simple ingredient may be your potent immune system ally, whether eaten raw or added to food.

Yoghurt

Yogurt has a lot of beneficial bacteria, referred to as probiotics, that are essential for preserving your intestinal health. Your gut holds a major part of your immune system, so maintaining its health and balance is crucial. Yogurt can help your body produce more antibodies and strengthen your defenses against illnesses.

Leafy Spinach

Though it may not be everyone’s favorite, it is a fact that leafy greens, like mustard greens, kale, and spinach, are a great source of vitamins and minerals that can support a healthy immune system. Vitamins A, C, and E are very abundant in these greens and are essential for a good and strong immune system. There are a lot of leafy greens available in the market or even your neighborhood that help strengthen your body’s defenses against illnesses.

Honey

Honey is a delectable natural sweetener and an incredible immune system booster. It is a must-add to your diet during the rainy season because of its popular antiviral and antibacterial qualities. Honey has the amazing ability to relieve sore throats, lessen coughs, and can even help you with your metabolism. Your immune system will benefit greatly from a tablespoon of honey when added to your tea or warm water.

Papaya (Pawpaw)

Another fruit that is high in vitamin C is the papaya, which also has anti-inflammatory properties because of their digestive enzyme papain. This fruit is also a storehouse of antioxidants and rich fiber, both of which can help boost your general health. Eating a small bowl of papaya on a regular basis can help you maintain a robust immune system that is prepared to fight off illnesses.

Green Tea

Green tea is a world-famous hub of antioxidants, especially epigallocatechin gallate, which has been proven to strengthen the immune system. If you consume green tea regularly, you are doing yourself a favor by strengthening your ability to ward off illnesses. Plus, it is also a relaxing beverage that you can sip on a rainy day due to its calming effects.
