How will you appraise the tenure of Bello-Koko as NPA’s Managing Director?

Babatunde Mukaila (Immediate Past National Secretary, ANLCA)

Bello -koko has performed creditably well in the area of stakeholders’ engagement. Also, on the issue of traffic control, he has immensely contributed to the free flow of traffic along the port access road as against the traffic congestion in the past. He did not also forget to generate revenue. There has been improved revenue generation for the government during his tenure.

Engr. Matthew Alalade (Former President, Merchant Navy)

Bello-Koko did his best particularly in the revamping of the building of the Mission To Seafarers in Lagos after many years. I believe if he had stayed longer, he would have done more. However, there is always time and seasons. He has done his bit, and he is leaving another person to take over. I want to believe the new man there will do more particularly as regards the port access road, and improved turnaround time for ships. We hope he will perform much better.

Anthony Onyike (National Vice President, NAFFAC)

One may not say maybe he is good or bad. However, he has done his bit during his tenure and we hope that the new administration makes sure the port is well protected, rid of all forms of corruption and enthrone good governance. Bello-Koko has done what he has done. We hope for a better NPA.

Sir John Oforbike (ANLCA Chieftain)

I will say that, NPA under the leadership of its outgone Managing Director, Bello-Koko performed woefully because of the corruption in the system. NPA is a leading agency in charge of monitoring / maintaining the free traffic flow at all the ports corridors. But the traffic control within the ports exit corridors and the roads leading in and out of Apapa was very bad for years. Thank God it has been cleared. The man who led the operation that decongested the port corridor deserves a national merit award.

Festus Ukwu (National Secretary, NCMDLCA)

Bello Koko was not really stakeholder friendly, because he never had any interactions with stakeholders for even a day. We have not attended any stakeholders’ engagement with him which is quite different from other government agencies such as NIMASA and Nigerian Shippers’ Council. His tenure is nothing to write home about. However, he is gone and we expect the new man to engage the stakeholders in the industry in order to put things in order and change the anomalies in the port. I wish him good luck.

Bala Muhammed (General Secretary, AMATO)

Bello Koko’s tenure was marked with a lot of landmark achievements. One of these milestones is the establishment of Export Processing Terminals to promote Nigerian export. Also, during his tenure, Bello-Koko laid the foundation of Port Community System to enhance trade facilitation, ease of doing business and seamless evacuation of cargoes. I think he has done his part. We hope for a well improved port management system from the new administration of NPA.

Francis Omotosho (Registrar, NAGAFF Academy)

Bello- Koko had come, he saw and he conquered. He has made his mark. Bello Koko tried. During his tenure we were able to have the Eto Call up System and many other initiatives. The Export Processing Terminal and other advancement came in during his tenure. He tried his own best and contributed in his own capacity. It is time for him to give way to another person.
