The Founder of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), Dr Boniface Aniebonam, on Tuesday said he had no intention to contest for any elections in spite of being the party’s Founder.
Aniebonam made this known at a news conference in Lagos.
He said that he was rather interested in building the party so that other NNPP members would use it as a strong platform to contest and win elections.
Aniebonam said that the party aimed to have representation in both the legislative and executive arms of government and contribute meaningfully to societal development.
Aniebonam said that he did not wish to spend millions of Naira on court cases involving the party but had to do it to sustain the party as a platform for great minds.
“We were curious about a week ago when news of Sen. Kwankwaso and Galadima withdrawing their case from a Kano State High Court against Dr Boniface Aniebonam and other legitimate members of the party, broke out,” he said.
Aniebonam said that Board of Trustees of NNPP would meet on Nov. 8 to take specific decision.
He urged members of NNPP to remain law-abiding and committed to the party.
