The Chartered Institute of Transport Administration, (CIoTA) has conferred the membership of the Organisation on the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Dr Magdalene Ajani.
The Director of Press and Public Relations of the ministry, Mr Eric Ojiekwe, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
Dr Bashir Jamoh, Director-General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and President of CIoTA, conferred Ajani with the honours at the on-going 16th National Council on Transportation in Kano.
According to Jamoh, Ajani was conferred in recognition of her burning desire to improve the transportation sector in the country.
“If you are a transporter, be it pipeline, air, land, sea or road, you can only be professionalised if you belong to CIoTA, I stand to be corrected.
“So, that is why we deemed it necessary for us to hand over your certificate as Fellow of this institute.”

Jamoh further explained that CIoTA was the only legitimate body that was recognised to carry out all forms of transportation businesses.
He urged all concerned to do well to be members before the requirements of being a member became stringent.
Receiving the honours, Ajani thanked the group for the pleasant surprise and promised to support them in whatever way possible.
