The Lagos seaports namely; Tin Can Island port and that of the Lagos Port Complex (LPC) have both handled a total of 11,652 units of both old and new vehicles in the month of October 2013 according to statistics revealed by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
Documents made available to Auto Port Weekly in October by NPA, indicated that a total of 28 vessels made it to the vehicle handling terminals also known as Roll On Roll Off (RoRo) terminal in Lagos, even as Five Star Logistics terminal handled 13 of the vessels.

Documents made available to Auto Port Weekly in October by NPA, indicated that a total of 28 vessels made it to the vehicle handling terminals also known as Roll On Roll Off (RoRo) terminal in Lagos, even as Five Star Logistics terminal handled 13 of the vessels.
Ports and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) recorded 12 vessels of vehicles, while Standard Flour Mill also known as Bollore Terminal had two vessels laden with vehicles while Greenview Development Nigeria Limited (GDNL) recorded one vessel that came in with truck heads.
Statistics also revealed that Five Star Logistics terminal recorded the highest volume of vehicle import in Lagos, a total of 7,107 units of both used and new vehicles were discharged last month. But, 5,562 used vehicles were imported, 1,545 units of new vehicles made it to the terminals in October at the RoRo terminal located at Tin Can Island port in Lagos.
Meanwhile PTML recorded a total of 3,600 units of unclassified vehicles last month while Standard Flour Mills (SFM) recorded 670 units of used and new vehicles.
Similraly, GDNL handled 275 units of truck heads at its terminal located at the Apapa port in Lagos.
Auto Port Weekly recalls that in January the terminals in Lagos handled 9,204 units, the figure for February was 9,735 units while March recorded 12,474 units.
The month of April recorded 9,171 units, May had 7,038 units, while June had 13,428 units and July accounted for 11,069 units of imported vehicles, while 13,777 units of used and new vehicles in August, 2013, in September importation of vehicles dropped with 9,454 units.
