The Lagos State Government is to inaugurate 10 ferries to further enhance transportation and generating social-economic development of the state.
Mr Gbenga Omotosho, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, made this known on Friday at the Joint Citizens Media Engagement Forum, at Alausa, Ikeja.
“These are very good ferries compared to any ferry that you can find anywhere in the world; these ferries were built by our young engineers.
“They are ferries that do not just stand as means of transportation but also as a symbol of what is possible in Nigeria.
“Very soon, we will be commissioning about 10 of them,” he said.
He noted that the state Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu inaugurated 15 ferries in the past.
“We will have 25 in total to reduce travel time.
“We have been able to bring together three modes of transportation.”
The commissioner praised media organisations in the state for giving necessary feedback to both the citizens and the state government.
“For me, today is not a day of recounting all those things that you already know.
“It is an opportunity for me to say thank you to you because you have really done well in propagating all the policies and explaining to people all of the things we are doing in this administration,” Omotosho said.
