The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has taken action against indiscriminate parking in the Apapa-Ijora area, impounding a total of 78 trucks.
In a statement by LASTMA’s Public Relations Officer, Adebayo Taofiq, it was revealed that the enforcement operation, conducted in collaboration with relevant security agencies, commenced on Sunday, Dec. 17.
The agency’s acting General Manager, Mr. Bakare Oki, emphasized the ongoing nature of the enforcement, asserting a firm stance against indiscriminate parking and obstructions in the area.
Oki urged drivers to assume responsibility for the roads and promptly report any abandoned or broken-down trucks through the agency’s hotlines.
The enforcement operations, led by Mr. Bakare Oki, occurred during the early hours of Sunday and resulted in the impoundment of 78 illegally parked containerized trucks along High Bridge by Lilly Pond inward Apapa and Sifax axis of Ijora (Olopa).
The statement added that these operations, lasting from 12 am to 7 am, aim to ensure smooth and seamless traffic for Lagosians during the festive season and beyond, with a commitment to maintaining zero tolerance for indiscriminate parking and impediments in the specified axis.
