Organizers of the Lagos International Maritime Week (LIMWeek) 2025 have called for enhanced collaboration with the Maritime Police Command to ensure maritime security and boost Nigeria’s blue economy.
The appeal was made during a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Obalende, Lagos, on Friday, August 22. The delegation, led by the conference convener, Mrs. Oritsematosan Edodo-Emore, engaged with the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Command, AIG Musa Yusuf Garba.
Mrs. Edodo-Emore highlighted that the 10th edition of LIMWeek, scheduled for September 29 and 30 at Lagos Oriental Hotel, will focus on maritime security, economic development, and stakeholder collaboration. She stressed the critical role of the Maritime Police in creating a safe maritime environment for trade and investment.
In response, AIG Garba commended the consistency of the organizers in sustaining LIMWeek over the years. He assured them of the Command’s full support, reiterating that maritime security is a top priority for the Nigeria Police Force.
“Strategic partnerships such as LIMWeek are essential to fostering a secure and vibrant maritime sector, which is key to national economic growth,” Garba stated.
The meeting also provided a platform to explore practical strategies for strengthening security cooperation ahead of the event and beyond. The Maritime Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to promote safety and growth within Nigeria’s maritime domain.
