The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), under the eadership of Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, has initiated a comprehensive training programme for its Union Secretariat staff.

This programme is currently taking place at the annex Secretariat located at Kirikiri Lighter Terminal, Phase 1, Apapa, Lagos.

In a press statement issued by the head media of the union, Comrade John Ikemefuna on Wednesday said the staff participating in the programme are drawn from various branches of the union, including its headquarters, the Nigerian Port Authority, Dockworkers, Shipping, and the Seafarers branches.

He stated that the primary objective of the training initiative is to equip the Union Secretariat staff with essential skills in modern office technology while adding that It aims to further familiarize the workers with conventional office ethics and practices, emphasizing a strong code of conduct.

He explained that Com. Adeyanju, recognized as the Maritime Labour Leader and Deputy President of the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC), is leaving no stone unturned in his efforts to revitalize all facets of the Maritime Workers Union.

“He is dedicated to ensuring that administrative staff are well-prepared for their roles in an age where modern office management relies heavily on e-systems for gathering and storing information.

“As we strive to enhance the Union’s infrastructure and overall efficiency, it is equally important that we provide our staff with the latest office techniques to maximize their effectiveness in their daily responsibilities” he said.
