The Nigerian Association of Master Mariners (NAMM) has expressed its commendation for the President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Adewale Adeyanju for resolving the decade-long dispute in the association, while also extolling the exemplary leadership, which has significantly contributed to the transformation of the Union.
In a press statement issued by the head of media at the MWUN; Kennedy Ikemefuna on Wednesday, he said Capt. Tajudeen Alao, President of NAMM, commended Adeyanju for his dynamic leadership qualities that played a pivotal role in peacefully resolving a longstanding dispute that persisted for twenty-three (23) years.
The dispute involved factions loyal to the pioneer President-General of MWUN, Comrade Uzoije Ukaummunna, and the succeeding leadership of the union.
Captain Alao expressed admiration for Adeyanju’s efforts in uniting the different factions within MWUN, emphasizing that this unity would pave the way for greater achievements in the maritime sector.
He said the resolution of the prolonged dispute is seen as a crucial step towards fostering collaboration and progress among the maritime workforce.
The President of NAMM extended heartfelt prayers for Adeyanju, seeking divine guidance, wisdom, and knowledge. These well-wishes are intended to fortify the MWUN President-General, enabling him to effectively navigate and overcome challenges in his leadership role.
