The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed a Bill to establish the Nasarawa State Inland Waterways Regulation Agency which is to regulate carriage of persons and goods across all waters and rivers within the state.
Dr Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the house announced the passage of the bill during plenary in Lafia.
The speaker said that the Inland Waterways bill, if assented to by the state Governor; Abdullahi Sule would regulate the carriage of persons and goods across all waters and rivers in the state.
He said that the bill among other things would as well create employment, safe water transportation and revenue generation among others.
The speaker directed the clerk of the house to produce clean copies of the bill to enable the house forward them to the governor for assent.
” The clerk is hereby directed to produce clean copies of the bill for my perusal before sending to Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his assent” he said.
The speaker appreciated members for their contributions during debate on the bill which according to him will have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state.
