The 2023 Nestlé Sustainability training, organized by the Lagos Business School Sustainability Centre (LBSSC), successfully concluded with an in-person session from July 26th to 28th, 2023.

The intensive three-week program targeted journalists and media practitioners focusing on nutrition, health, and environment, aiming to enhance their reporting skills and understanding of sustainability trends.

Participants received training in data analysis and solution journalism, equipping them with the knowledge to communicate best practices, lifestyle choices, and policy directions that promote sustainable food systems, healthier lives, and stronger communities among the Nigerian populace.

During the closing ceremony, the Dean of Lagos Business School, Prof. Chris Ogbechie, expressed gratitude to Nestlé for their dedication in promoting nutrition, health, and environmental awareness in Nigeria. He commended Nestlé’s commitment to empowering journalists with accurate information and valuable reporting skills.

Victoria Uwadoka, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Manager at Nestlé Nigeria, emphasized the importance of fact-based reporting and the need for journalists to influence positive attitudinal change in families, communities, and organizations.

The training also included a field trip to Lekki Urban Forestry and Animal Shelter Initiative (LUFASI) Park in Lagos, offering participants an experiential learning session to witness the effects of climate change on natural ecosystems and engage in activities like game fishing.

The training’s success and impact on promoting sustainability in Nigeria were acknowledged by Nestlé Nigeria, which expressed its commitment to continuing support and engagement with stakeholders and the media for better outcomes.

Overall, the Nestlé Sustainability training equipped media professionals with the necessary tools and knowledge to contribute significantly to the nation’s nutrition, health, and environmental awareness, fostering a healthier and more sustainable future for all Nigerians.
