At the end of the last weekday of trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), a total of 584,660,038 shares in 5,312 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 6,613,412,157.85, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day. Data shows 75% improvement in volume and 28% improvement in turnover. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 28.4 trillion.
In the aggregate, 112 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 32 gainers and 12 losers. Tantalizers led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 0.22 per share, followed by FTN Cocoa Processors (+10%), NCR Nigeria (+9.96%) and Ikeja Hotel (+9.73%). On the losing side, Ardova came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.84% at NGN 20.15 per share, followed by Computer Warehouse Group (-8.88%), Transcorp Nigeria (-5.71%) and May & Baker Nigeria (-4.76%). Fidelity Bank recorded the highest volume of 270 million traded shares, followed by Zenith Bank (57.8m), United Bank for Africa (48.9m) and Access Holdings (40.9m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) inched up 78.50 (0.15%) points to close at 52,187.93, representing a 1-week loss of 0.05%, a 4-week gain of 2.06%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 1.83%. Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 50 Index (+0.48%; +2.32% 1WK; +7.5% YTD), NGX Top 30 Index (-0%; -0.09% 1WK; +2.08% YTD), NGX Insurance Index (+3.26%; +5.2% 1WK; +16.06% YTD), NGX Banking Index (+1.26%; +2.88% 1WK; +12.47% YTD), NGX Pension Index (+0.71%; +2.75% 1WK; +12.71% YTD), and NGX Premium Index (+0.4%; +0.81% 1WK; +12.83% YTD).
