NIMASA DG Receives Maritime Man of The Year Award, Lauded By Global Maritime Leaders

The Director General Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh, has been described as the epitome of excellence in the maritime industry. He was bestowed with the prestigious “Maritime Man of the Year” award by Maritime Media Limited at a ceremony held at Eko Hotel and Suites on Wednesday

 

Dignitaries, including the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, hailed Dr. Jamoh as Nigeria’s finest export in the maritime sector. Senator Lawal Silver, representing Governor Sani, commended Jamoh’s national recognition and numerous chieftaincy titles, underscoring Kaduna State’s pride in his achievements.

 

Elder Asu Beks, CEO of Maritime Media Limited, lauded Jamoh as the champion of Nigeria’s Blue Economy, emphasizing his dedication to NIMASA’s core mandates. Notably, Jamoh’s leadership led to a significant reduction in maritime criminality, earning praise from the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

 

Phillip Heyl, representing the IMO, expressed pride in Jamoh’s accomplishments, stating, “He is a fantastic representation of Nigeria who has done more for the reputation of Nigeria in the maritime world more than anyone in a long time.”

 

Also, Patricia Davies of the British High Commission, congratulated Jamoh and highlighted the close collaboration between their team and NIMASA.

 

Minister of Marine and Blue Economy; Mr Adegboyega Oyetola and  other industry stakeholders commended Jamoh for his contributions to the sector’s progress and welfare of maritime workers.

 

In his response, Jamoh credited his success to his team and mentor, Alhaji Muniru Jafar. He acknowledged the ongoing work ahead, emphasizing the foundation laid for future advancements in the maritime industry.

 

The event also saw the presence of notable figures such as Prince Olayiwola Shittu, Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha, Hajia Lami Tumaka, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju; the President General, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) and other distinguished guests from the maritime community.
