A vessel, MV Naomi Corcel, which was carrying 20,000 rounds of ammunition and 100 pieces of AK-47 riffles have been intercepted near Badagry, Lagos.
Security sources confirmed to Shipping Position Daily yesterday that a task force consisting of the Navy, Nigerian Maritime Administration Safety Agency (NIMASA), a private security agency, Global West Vessel Specialist, and marine police seized the vessel.
The task force also arrested 15 crew members, made up of three Ghanaians, four Togolese and eight Nigerians.

The source told our correspondent that the arms and ammunition, including thousands of live bullets and explosive devices intercepted “were enough to equip a small army.”
