The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and Small and Medium Scale Enterprises Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) have concluded arrangements to hold a week long entrepreneurial capacity building workshop.

Hajia Lami Tumaka

The workshop is for maritime industry operators who had been shortlisted after an earlier sensitization and assessment workshops organized in 2007 by NIMASA in collaboration with SMEDAN for Small and Medium  Enterprise Operators in the sector.

A statement released in Lagos last week and signed by NIMASA’s deputy director in charge public relations, Hajia Lami Tumaka disclosed that the event will hold between October 6th and 10th, 2008 in Lagos.

The lucky participants are expected to undergo an intensive five day workshop as a pre-condition for selection for the final phase of the programme.

“It is worthy of mention that the sensitization and  assessment workshops that were conducted in 2007 were in the cities  of Lagos, Port Harcourt and Warri, and had large turn outs of participants  leading to the selection of 100 persons that satisfied the selection criteria”, the statement added.

The current collaboration between NIMASA and SMEDAN is part of  the NIMASA’s contributions aimed  at supporting the government’s seven point agenda, especially in the area of job creation and sustainability.
