NISA Caveats NIMAREX Impersonators , Warns Public Against Fraud

The Nigerian Shipowners Association (NISA) has urged Maritime industry stakeholders about some individuals impersonating as officials of the Nigerian Maritime Conference and Exhibiton (NIMAREX).
NISA consequently warned the general public to be wary of individuals parading themselves as officials of the NIMAREX, which is a baby of NISA.
According to an official disclaimer signed by the NISA President, Otunba Sola Adewunmi and General Secretary, Otunba Olawale Jubril and  made available to our correspondent,  maritime regulators and stakeholders should be wary of whoever is parading him or herself as the Chief Executive Officer of NIMAREX.
It noted that such individual(s) do not have the mandate of the Nigeria Shipowners Association which is the parent body of NIMAREX.
It however warned the public that whoever is dealing with the impersonators on behalf of NIMAREX, is doing so at their own risk.
The disclaimer reads in part: “This is to inform the maritime regulators and stakeholders locally and internationally that whoever that  is parading herself as the Chief Executive Officer of NIMAREX does not have the mandate of Nigeria Shipowners Association (NISA), the parent body of NIMAREX.
“Whoever that is dealing with them on behalf of NIMAREX is at their own risk” it noted.
Recall that the annual maritime expo was conceived in 2011 by the indigenous shipowners’ body to showcase Nigeria’s enormous maritime potentials to international investors.
However, in-fighting between the indigenous operators led to the collapse of NIMAREX after five editions from 2010 to 2014.
The management of NISA under the leadership of its new President, Otunba Sola Adewumi has however promised to revamp the Nigerian Maritime Expo for shipping development in the country.
