The Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Mr. Bola Oyebamiji has been honoured with the prestigious “Icon of Diligence in Service” award by Exposure Media. The award was presented during the 2025 Annual Lecture and Award Presentation of Exposure Media, held in commemoration of 26 years of uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria.

The event took place at the Nigeria National Merit Award Secretariat, Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, and brought together distinguished guests, thought leaders, and industry stakeholders.

Mr. Oyebamiji, who was unavoidably absent, was represented by Engr. Mohammed Dangana, General Manager (Special Duties) at NIWA, who received the award on his behalf.

In his acceptance speech, Engr. Dangana conveyed the MD’s heartfelt appreciation. “I would like to express my sincere thanks to Exposure Media for this recognition. It is a testament not just to my work, but also to the support and encouragement I have received along the way. This reflects our collective efforts and shared commitment to excellence. Every achievement we have celebrated has been a result of collaboration, hard work, and an unwavering spirit.”

Mr. Oyebamiji also acknowledged the vital roles played by his mentors and leaders in shaping his career, as well as the unwavering support of his family and friends throughout his professional journey.

In his welcome address, Mr. Olayemi Gabriel, Publisher of Exposure Media, noted that the awardees were selected not just for their personal accomplishments, but also for the positive impact they have made in their communities and their contributions to national development.

“Their stories inspire us all and reflect the very best of what service and dedication to our nation should look like,” he added.

The event highlighted a renewed commitment to celebrating excellence and inspiring a culture of service, innovation, and leadership across sectors.
