The Association of Registered Freight Forwarders Nigeria (AREFFN) has congratulated the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on his historic election as Chairman of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Council.
In a congratulatory statement jointly signed by its National President, Alhaji Bala Lawan Daura, and National Secretary, Ichie Frank Obiekezie, in Lagos on Friday, AREFFN described Adeniyi’s emergence as a global milestone and a testament to his exceptional leadership, dedication, and commitment to advancing global customs standards.
The association lauded Adeniyi’s inspiring leadership style and his role in modernizing Nigeria’s customs administration. They noted that his administration has shown clarity of purpose, especially in the implementation of government trade policies and the adoption of modern customs practices aimed at trade facilitation.
“This is a remarkable achievement not only for you but also for Nigeria, as it signifies our nation’s growing influence in the global arena,” the association stated.
AREFFN expressed confidence that Adeniyi’s vast experience and deep understanding of international trade complexities will bring innovative direction to the WCO Council and foster stronger collaboration among member nations.
“As you embark on this new chapter, we are confident that your vision will guide the World Customs Organization towards innovative solutions and collaborative partnerships that benefit all member countries,” the group added.
The association also pledged its continued support for customs modernization efforts under CGC Adeniyi, while applauding his commitment to transparency, regional integration, and maritime sector efficiency.
