The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and APM Terminals worked together over the weekend to contain a fire that broke out on a crane at the Lagos Port Complex, Apapa. Thanks to the swift response from both parties, the incident was quickly brought under control, with no injuries or fatalities reported and minimal disruption to operations.
In a statement, APM Terminals expressed gratitude to the NPA Management and the NPA Fire Service for their rapid assistance, which played a critical role in managing the fire. “We extend our sincere gratitude to the NPA Management and NPA Fire Service for their prompt assistance in managing the situation,” the terminal operator said.
Reassuring stakeholders, APM Terminals highlighted that no personnel were harmed and that the port continued normal operations. “We are pleased to confirm that all personnel are safe, with no injuries or fatalities reported. The safety of our employees, partners, and the surrounding community is our top priority, and we are proud that our stringent safety measures played a critical role in preventing any harm. Operations at the terminal have not been disrupted, and we continue to operate as usual,” the company stated.
APM Terminals also noted that a thorough investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the fire.
