ONAS 100 Resources Nigeria Limited has recognized and celebrated the dedication and commitment of its staff during an event held at Tin Can on Wednesday.

The company, led by its Managing Director, Onome Monije, rewarded employees who have contributed significantly to its growth over the years, with cash prizes and other incentives, including a newly acquired vehicle to ease staff transportation.

Monije, in her remarks, reflected on the company’s journey and the inspiration behind the annual staff appreciation. She recalled how ONAS 100 Resources was officially registered in 2018, while her license was obtained in 2008. She shared a personal story of building the company from the ground up, stating that 15 years ago, in February, they secured their current office space. She acknowledged the unwavering dedication of two long-serving staff members, Ekaete Nathaniel, Gbenga Olabiyi, who have been with the company for the past 15 years.

She recounted Ekaete’s dedication, emphasizing that even when she was about to give birth, she still showed up at work, demonstrating her passion for her job. In appreciation of her years of service, Monije revealed that she took it upon herself to support Ekaete’s education, ensuring she enrolled in the National Open University three years ago. Ekaete’s is now in her third year at the university, fully sponsored by ONAS 100 Resources. Similarly, Gbenga Olabiyi, who has remained a committed staff member for 15 years, was rewarded with a cash gift of N500,000. Monije described him as someone who prioritizes the company’s success, always ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently despite personal challenges.

In further recognition of staff dedication, Monije announced cash rewards for other employees. Two staff members received N200,000 each, while another received N100,000. She also unveiled a newly acquired 2006 Sienna vehicle, which will be used to transport employees to and from work, easing their commuting challenges given the current economic situation. She noted that to further reduce stress, staff work schedules have been adjusted, allowing some to report to work three times a week instead of daily.

Gbenga Olabiyi, the recipient of the N500,000 cash gift, expressed his gratitude, describing Monije as a leader who genuinely cares about her employees. He recalled his 15-year journey with the company, emphasizing how Monije has been more than a boss—acting as both a mentor and a mother figure. He advised young professionals to embrace patience and dedication, stating that consistency and perseverance bring rewards over time. He expressed his happiness about the recognition and prayed for continued success for the company.

The event also saw the presence of Ojo Akintoye, a chieftain of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), who has known Monije for over a decade. He praised her leadership qualities, describing her as a team player who is calm but firm when it comes to getting results. He also acknowledged the increasing representation of women in the customs and logistics industry, noting that ONAS 100 Resources’ recognition of staff is a testament to Monije’s commitment to her workforce.

Monije, who was recently elected as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the ANLCA Tin Can Chapter, spoke about her plans for the association. She emphasized the need to protect ANLCA’s image, foster collaboration among stakeholders, and work with government agencies to ensure seamless operations at the Tin Can Port. She reaffirmed her commitment to addressing challenges faced by members and ensuring that there is effective dialogue between stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

Other employees who received awards and recognition during the event included Patrick Monije, Emmanuel Akose, Ekate Nathaniel, and Sunday Agwu. Monije concluded by assuring staff that as the company grows, the benefits will be shared among all, reinforcing the company’s commitment to teamwork and employee welfare.
