The Ports Authority Police Command has assured maritime stakeholders, port users and the general public of adequate security across the nation’s seaports and other maritime facilities ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police Command, Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja, felicitated with Muslim faithful and urged Nigerians to uphold the values of peace, tolerance, obedience and love associated with the Islamic festival.

According to the statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Isaac Hundeyin, the Command has deployed officers strategically across seaports, terminals, jetties, waterways and other critical maritime infrastructure to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.

The police said the security arrangement is aimed at strengthening surveillance, improving visibility policing and safeguarding lives and property before, during and after the festivities.

Agbaminoja also called on port operators, transport unions, maritime stakeholders and members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest port police formation.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order within the port corridors and sustaining effective policing to support Nigeria’s maritime economy.

The Commissioner further wished Muslim faithful a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
