The Managing Director of Muna Sylver Nigeria Limited, Princess Chi Ezeh, has praised Comptroller Dera Nnadi, the Area Controller of the Tin Can Island Port (TCIP) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), for his remarkable accomplishments in workplace transformation and revenue generation.
Princess Chi highlighted the historic N1 trillion revenue milestone achieved under Comptroller Nnadi’s leadership and lauded the transformation of the TCIP administrative building.
Acknowledging these feats, Princess Chi expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for recognizing Comptroller Nnadi’s efforts with the Special Award for Workplace Transformation during the recent CGC Award Night in Abuja.
Reflecting on the improvements at the TCIP Command, Princess Chi likened its state-of-the-art facilities to the headquarters of a top Nigerian commercial bank.
“In the past, Comptroller Nnadi has been celebrated for high-profile seizures of drugs, arms, and ammunition, as well as his exceptional revenue collection skills. This year, he has gone further by showcasing his leadership in workplace transformation. The sweeping renovation of the TCIP Administrative Complex was completed in just a few months, giving the Command a new and impressive image”, she said.
She added that while stakeholders were still celebrating the structural improvements, Comptroller Nnadi maintained his focus on revenue collection. Through innovative strategies like marketing the Command to shippers via online advertisements, documentaries, and stakeholder engagements, coupled with efforts to curb revenue leakages, the Command surpassed the historic N1 trillion revenue mark in 2024 — an achievement excluding December’s revenue figures. This milestone overshadows the previous record of N639 billion in 2023, also achieved under Comptroller Nnadi’s leadership.
Princess Chi commended Comptroller Nnadi for addressing the long-overdue transformation of the TCIP Customs Administrative Building, which had remained unchanged for 40 years. She noted that past Area Controllers often prioritized revenue generation over infrastructural development.
As a Vice President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) Western Zone, Princess Chi urged other Customs Area Controllers to emulate Comptroller Nnadi’s leadership style, which combines infrastructure development with revenue efficiency.
