The Registrar of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), Mr. Kingsley Igwe has declared that the council no longer owes staff salary, even as he disclosed the CRFFN received financial support to clear the backlog by December 2024.

He has also unveiled a comprehensive roadmap for 2025 aimed at boosting internally generated revenue (IGR), strengthening professional standards, and fostering unity within the freight logistics industry.

In his New Year address to staff and stakeholders, Mr. Igwe expressed his commitment to driving innovation, enhancing capacity building, and promoting collaboration while improving the welfare of CRFFN staff nationwide.

While expressing gratitude to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, for his continued support, he acknowledged the Minister’s timely intervention in approving bailout funds that cleared five months of outstanding staff salaries from March to July 2024 and another five months from August to December 2024. He reassured staff that under his administration, salaries would be paid promptly, and their welfare would remain a top priority.

Outlining his agenda for the year, Mr. Igwe emphasized four key pillars that would drive CRFFN’s activities in 2025. He pledged to implement solution-driven policies to elevate professional standards within the freight logistics industry, ensuring compliance, transparency, and efficiency. In addition, he announced plans to roll out comprehensive training programs for CRFFN staff and freight forwarders, including workshops, certifications, and seminars. These initiatives are designed to equip stakeholders with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the dynamic and evolving global logistics landscape.

The Registrar highlighted the importance of collaboration with sister agencies and private sector stakeholders as a foundation for progress. He stressed that strengthened partnerships would streamline operations, eliminate redundancies, and promote innovation. By fostering these collaborations, CRFFN aims to build a resilient freight logistics industry that contributes meaningfully to Nigeria’s economy.

Acknowledging the challenges facing the industry, Mr. Igwe called for unity among stakeholders, emphasizing the need to overcome divisions that have hindered progress. He noted that CRFFN, as the statutory unifying body, must lead efforts to foster collaboration and solidarity within the sector. He envisioned a CRFFN that serves as a leading regulatory body, driving innovation, integrity, and excellence in freight forwarding while enhancing Nigeria’s global trade competitiveness.

As he concluded, Mr. Igwe urged all stakeholders to embrace his vision and work collectively toward building a more efficient, professional, and prosperous freight logistics industry in Nigeria. He expressed optimism that 2025 would be a year of transformation and achievement, not just for CRFFN but for the entire industry.

“Together, we can solidify CRFFN’s reputation as a regulatory body committed to excellence,” he stated, calling for renewed dedication from all parties.
