Princess Chi Urges Comptroller Onyeka to Replicate Revenue Success at Tin Can

The Managing Director of Muna Sylver Nigeria Limited, Hon. Princess Chi Ezeh, has congratulated the newArea Controller of Tin Can Island Port (TCIP), Comptroller Frank Onyeka, on his outstanding achievements, which recently earned him a recognition award at the Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

Onyeka was one of five newly promoted Comptrollers from the Apapa Port Command who were honored for their exceptional service in 2024, with a special commendation for his role in revenue generation.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, Princess Chi praised the customs boss for his impressive track record in revenue collection and challenged him to replicate the same success at Tin Can Island Port.

“I am specially congratulating Comptroller Onyeka on his recent appointment as Area Controller of Tin Can Customs and for his outstanding performance in revenue generation during his tenure as Deputy Comptroller in charge of Apapa Port Gate,” she said.

Reflecting on his career, she highlighted his record-breaking performances, noting that his tenure at Onne Port saw remarkable revenue improvements before he moved to Apapa, where he was part of the team that generated ₦2.3 trillion in 2024.

“When you examine Comptroller Onyeka’s history in recent years, you will see that he has consistently set new records, particularly in revenue collection. The expectation now is that as the new Area Controller of Tin Can Customs, he will continue this impressive trend. However, this is no small task, considering he is replacing ACG Dera Nnadi, a high-performer who not only hit ₦1 trillion in revenue but also remodeled the TCIP administrative building,” she stated.

As Vice President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Western Zone, Princess Chi expressed confidence that Onyeka’s leadership at TCIP would bring about greater revenue milestones and improved trade facilitation.

She also urged him to uphold the cleanliness and orderliness introduced at the command under ACG Nnadi, stressing the importance of maintaining public assets, which are often neglected in Nigeria.

“Maintenance culture is a major issue in this country, and I hope Comptroller Onyeka will ensure that the state-of-the-art facilities at Tin Can Island Port are properly utilized and well maintained to maximize the benefits of the modern equipment,” she advised.

It will be recalled that ACG Nnadi carried out a comprehensive renovation of the TCIP Customs administrative building, a transformation that came 40 years after its initial construction. He also built a Quarter Guard podium and a Police Gate House, which were recently commissioned by the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Bashir Adeniyi.

With a strong foundation already in place, stakeholders now look forward to how Comptroller Onyeka will build on these achievements and steer Tin Can Island Port towards even greater revenue success.
