Even though the month of April witnessed a drop in the importation of vehicles into Nigeria through the Lagos port, records have shown that vehicle importation witnessed a boost in the month of May, 2012 as it records a total of 11,578 units of old and new vehicles imported as against the 9,512 units recorded in April.
Based on the statistics received from the Nigeria Port Authority [NPA], this is the highest volume of imported vehicles into the country so far, since the beginning of the year 2012.

Based on the statistics received from the Nigeria Port Authority [NPA], this is the highest volume of imported vehicles into the country so far, since the beginning of the year 2012.
Port and Terminal Multiservices Limited [PTML], handled a total of 14 vessels laden with vehicles last month with 4,200 units, while Five Star Logistics Terminal recorded 12 vessels with 6,438 units. Another vehicle importing terminal, Standard Flour Mills Limited handled 1,190 units of vehicles.
From the beginning of the year 2012, records have shown that five logistics terminal is leading with the highest imports of vehicles into the country as a total number of 6,438 units of both old and new vehicles made it into the terminal last month.
The terminal recorded a total of 3060 units of new vehicles as two vessels that called at the terminal discharge of 1060 units of new vehicles which had a vessel. The vessels; Bergamot Ace came in on the 9th of May with 60 units of vehicles while Sincerity Ace handled 1000 units of brand new vehicles on the same date.
Genuine Ace also came with 1000 units of brand new vehicles on the 16th of last month while Supreme Ace handled 1000 units of new vehicles on the 11th in May.
Document from [NPA] also revealed that all the 14 vessels that made it to the terminal of Port and Terminal Multiservices Limited [PTML] handled 300 units each with unclassified identity of the vehicles.
Grande Angola, Grande Cosco Di Avorio ,Grande Argentina,Thebeland ,Grande Morocco ,Republic of Argentina, Grande Atlántico, Grande Gabon, Grande Buenos Aires,Imola Express, Suzuka Express ,Rep Di Amalfi, Grande Togo all brought in a total of 4,200 units in May.
Importation of vehicles at Standard Flour Mills also increased in the month of May as against figure that was recorded in April as 1190 units of vehicles made it to the terminal last month as against 1,100 units in April.
MV Global Spirit came in on the 4th with 405 units of used vehicles; Hoegh Trapeze brought in 385 units of used vehicles while Sapphire Ace handled 400 units and berthed on the 20th at the terminal.
