Two senior editors of Shipping Position Daily, Mr Sesan Onileimo and Mr Oluyinka Onigbinde, have been honored with Special Maritime Recognition Awards for their impactful contributions to maritime journalism as well as the development of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN).
The prestigious award was presented during the Quadrennial National Delegate Conference, which featured a book launch and award ceremony, recognizing individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the maritime industry.
Mr Onileimo, Editor-in-Chief, and Mr Onigbinde, Assistant Editor, amongst other maritime industry personalities were greatly lauded for their contributions which have been a testament to their unwavering commitment to journalism and industry development.
The Delegate Conference served as a platform to celebrate excellence and honor stakeholders who have played pivotal roles in advancing the maritime sector. Other notable awardees included key industry players, union leaders, and government representatives who have demonstrated outstanding service and dedication.
Speaking at the event, the outgoing President General of MWUN, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, lauded the award recipients for their meritorious impact on the development of the union over the years. He acknowledged their dedication to objective reporting and consistent coverage of maritime affairs, which has positively influenced the industry and the union’s activities.
