The Head of Department, Shipping Management of the school, Mr. Chris Sadoh told Shipping Position Daily in Lagos last week that the mid- voyage examinations cut across the three departments of the school.
He explained that the examination was set up to enable students to be committed to their studies and for them to improve in some courses that they find difficult.
According to him, the academic staff on the institute are also working assiduously to ensure that the objectives of the examination are accomplished.
He also said that the institute is using the platform provided by it to give Nigerian youths the opportunity to embrace maritime studies as a veritable tool for career and manpower development.
‘’The purpose of this miniature exam is to prepare the students for their final voyage exams because we find out that most of the students do not devote ample time to their studies except when the period of exams draws near, so in other to bridge that gap ,the management came up with the idea of the mid -voyage exams to enable them to be more committed to their studies’’, he explained.
