The Tin-Can Island Command of Nigeria Customs Service says it realised N20.9 billion revenue in August against the N20.4 billion it collected in July.
The Area Comptroller, Jibrin Alkali, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos that the revenue was higher by more than N500 million.
Alkali said that the collection was the highest revenue the command had collected in the history of the Tin-Can Island Port.

“The revenue that we collected for government in August is the highest since the establishment of the port 35 years ago,” the Comptroller said.
He, however, added that the command still had some challenges of under or false declaration by importers.
According to him, the trend is common among importers of vehicles, furniture, used tyres, printed wax, tissue paper and vegetable oil.
He said that the command had caught some of such importers by re-strategising.
