Musa Nimrod, President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has expressed confidence in Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) as chairman of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Council.

Adeniyi was elected chairman of WCO on June 8, at the 145th/146th Sessions of the organisation held in Brussels, Belgium.

Nimrod, who stated this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, said that Adeniyi would bring innovation and transformation to the WCO.

According to him, Adeniyi has significantly improved the fortunes of  the Nigeria Customs in a short time, adding that the global community will soon feel his positive impact.

He acknowledged Adeniyi’s strong support for sports, particularly volleyball, through consistent sponsorships.

“The entire board of the NVBF congratulates you on your election as the Chairperson of the WCO Council.

“In just two years as CGC, you have not only boosted revenue collection and surpassed budgetary targets, but have also made substantial investments in volleyball.

“Under your leadership, the NCS sponsored the 2024 Volleyball League and hosted the 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship.

“The championship was widely acclaimed as the best edition to date. We are confident you will exceed expectations at the WCO Council,” he said.

The council, which is the governing body of the WCO, comprises the heads of 186 Customs administrations across the world.

Adeniyi, who succeeded Edward Kieswetter, Commissioner of the South African Revenue Service, officially assume leadership of the WCO Council on July.
