Two Injured After Off-Shore Vessel Hits Wind Turbine off Dutch Coast
The Panama-flagged offshore supply vessel Glomar Venture collided with a windmill on the North Sea off the coast of North Holland, Netherlands. Two of eight crewmembers were injured in the accident.
The collision occurred on 20th April, at around 7 AM local time, approximately 24 kilometers off the coast near Callantsoog. Emergency response teams from the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution (KNRM) and the Coastguard were dispatched to the scene.
The injured crew members were initially treated onboard before being transferred to shore by a KNRM rescue vessel. Upon arrival in Den Helder, both were transported to a hospital for further medical attention.
Despite the collision, Glomar Venture continued the journey under its own power and safely arrived at the port of Den Helder, Netherlands. An investigation has been launched by the authorities to determine the cause of the incident.
