The Western Ports Police Command investigated property losses valued at over ₦152.6 million, arrested 29 suspects, and secured 10 convictions between July and September 2025.
According to official crime statistics obtained by Shipping Position Daily from the Ports Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Western Ports Command, a total of 28 criminal cases were recorded during the period.
In July 2025, the Command recorded 11 cases and arrested nine suspects. Two cases involving four suspects were charged to court, leading to four convictions. The total value of stolen property stood at ₦22,671,385.
In August, the Command sustained its operational tempo with 11 cases and 12 arrests. Five cases involving 10 suspects were charged to court, resulting in six convictions. Property losses were valued at ₦120 million.
In September, six cases were recorded with eight suspects arrested. Four cases were charged to court, while four suspects were awaiting trial. Property losses were estimated at ₦10 million.
Throughout the three-month period, no casualties, case transfers, or referrals to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) were recorded.
A new leadership era began at the Western Ports Authority Police Command, Apapa, as CP Toyin Agbaminoja assumed duty as Commissioner of Police, succeeding AIG Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola, who retired on October 16, 2025.
The Command commended its officers for professionalism and collaboration with port stakeholders, reaffirming its commitment to sustaining maritime safety through intelligence-led policing and inter-agency cooperation to ensure a secure port environment.
