Comrade Tony Nted Emmanuel has improved the union in the sense that since he came on board, he has enhanced capacity building, training of members locally and internationally with the help of other stakeholders. He has equally built a befitting secretariat in Abuja because of his leadership skills; this is not to the detriment of the workers but for harmonious understanding between the workers and the management. He made the workers know that the management provides the jobs; he also made management to see the workers as partners in the business. Since he assumed the leadership of the union, there has been a tremendous improvement in the lives of members, there is also industrial peace in the seaports. The PG has changed the lives of the people in the organisation including the condition of service, no redundancy, and maltreatment of workers at the seaport any longer.

The President General has seen to the welfare of members, he wouldn't want anyone to go hungry, for the four years he has been in the office, the workers condition of service has been improved upon. He has been able to affect everyone's lives. He is someone I respect a lot. His coming back is a good one because we are all looking forward to it.

First of all, I want to appreciate him for bringing peace into the maritime sector, this is worthy of emulation, we have witnessed peace in all the ports compared to before, we appreciate him and we pray for him. The PG's office has caused tremendous developments in the maritime sector particularly in the union. Our union has four branches, and in all the branches he has, improved the lives of the workers, especially at the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) branch, their condition of service has been improved upon, the gratuity that was in contention has been changed, and Christmas bonuses as well as so many other allowances have been increased.

The industry has moved from grace to grace since he resumed office. The President General has made sure that there are no acts of thugery and violence in the port. He has done so many wonderful things and the entire members of the union are happy with his administration. I am in support of his return as the president general.

Omotayo Owolabi (Chairman, MWUN/Liverpool Branch)
The President General of the MWUN, Comrade Tony Nted is a charismatic leader and very open-minded. He has led the union for the past four years successfully, taking care of the union members, ensuring that the rights of maritime workers are all protected and encouraging other incentives in the union. He has done a lot of things such as provision of buses for each districts of maritime workers union even promising more. We are hoping that this time around, all the units will also be provided with mobile buses for the union executives. I will use this medium to draw the focus of the PG to the water transportation, just like we have the road transport workers' union especially in Lagos State; my PG should provide a way to assist them. We enjoyed his leadership and we pray to God to give him long life and prosperity, more visions to lead the union. On a scale of 1 to 100, I will give him 90 because he is a listening leader.

Nted has been trying his best since he came into office, for instance, as at this moment they have buses for each unit, this has never happened before. He is carrying the union along; there have not been frequent strikes the way we used to have it. With these things he has done during his four years in office, I believe that he shall do better.

President Tony Nted has done a perfect job in all areas compared to the past presidents we have had, especially by trying to see to the welfare of seamen and dockworkers. Also during his four years in office, members were sent on oversea courses to broaden their knowledge in their various areas of endeavours, he also carried out some programmes for those who will be going on retirement, in order to enlighten them on how to have a peaceful retirement and have something they can fall back on.
