The Registrar of Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN); Sir Mike Jukwe has explained the reasons behind the obvious absence of freight forwarders at the commissioning of the Council’s new head office in Apapa.

In an apparent reaction to the unexpected absence of freight forwarding associations and practitioners to the event which held in Lagos on Monday, Jukwe explained that the Council was planning a formal meeting with all the five accredited associations on Friday.

He explained that the absence was deliberate, because the Council had plans to meet the freight forwarders later.

Jukwe also said that freight agents were left out because of the training programme designed for staff of the organisation, which commenced immediately after the commissioning.

He stated that CRFFN used the opportunity of the commissioning to also commence the training for officers.

Jukwe further added that "on Friday we are having all the leaders of freight forwarding associations, along with all the accredited training institutions for a meeting"

"They did not boycott the event as speculated; they were actually not invited", the registrar said.

He said that there is no misunderstanding between the council and all the freight forwarding associations, stressing that a cordial relationship exists among all concerned parties.

On the advantage of relocating to Lagos, the Registrar said, "with us being here, the proximity of meeting with the freight forwarders will be very often"

He however admonished freight forwarders to speak with one voice, saying that was one of the reasons for the establishment of CRFFN.
