At least one person was injured while property were destroyed yesterday when some officials of the Lagos State Transport Management Authority (LASTMA) chased a truck into the ever-busy Mile 2 annex of the Port and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) command of the Customs.
Eye witnesses confirmed to Shipping Position Daily, that the accident occurred following a misunderstanding between the truck driver and officials of LASTMA over alleged attempt by the latter to extort money from the truck driver.

Eye witnesses confirmed to Shipping Position Daily, that the accident occurred following a misunderstanding between the truck driver and officials of LASTMA over alleged attempt by the latter to extort money from the truck driver.
The hot chase by the officials of traffic agency and the eventual accident crippled activities at the terminal for more than three hours.
According to eye witnesses, the truck driver refused to obey instructions from the LASTMA officials and attempted to escape, thereby losing his balance and ramming his truck into the customs premises.
They told our correspondent that apart from the perimeter fence of the customs facilities that was pulled down by the truck; a commercial motorcycle (okada) rider was also seriously wounded.
The okada rider was rushed to a nearby hospital within the Mle 2 axis for treatment.
Our correspondent identified the registration number of the okada as KTU 522 QE with a drivers license with name Mustapha Umar, Kano State.
Also a salon car was affected by the accident.
Meanwhile, Public Relations Officer of the PTML command, Nigeria Customs Service, Steve Okoma confirmed the case to our correspondent, even as he disclosed that one of the LASTMA officials has been arrested.
He said the LASTMA official is in police custody at the RoRo port division at Tin Can port, he confirmed that the Okada rider was receiving treatment in the hospital.
He however added that the driver of the truck escaped.
