The Plateau State Government has penciled down the Jos Inland Container Depot located in Heipang for demolition.
The state has ordered its security outfit, Operation Rainbow, to demolish all buildings at the site.
The Jos ICD is one of the six that were licensed by the Nigerian Shippers Council. Others are: Isiala Ngwa ICD in Abia State, Ibadan ICD, Kano ICD. There are two container freight stations too.

The Jos ICD was concessioned to Duncan Container Dry Port Limited.
Our correspondent learnt last week that, the Plateau State Government, through the Jos Metropolitan Development Board, has mobilized heavy armed men of Operation Rainbow to effect some demolitions at the site.
Already, the Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang has reportedly ordered the construction company handling the international inland port to comply with the Jos master plan or face eviction from the site within 24 hours.
However, the actions of the governor has been blamed by the natives of the Berom extraction, saying it is an act of sabotage and a deliberate plan to deny them of their income.
One of workers, a student of Civil Engineering of the state Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi, Paul Choji, appealed to the state government to take a wise decision that would promote the economic base of the state.
The Acting Project Manager of the ICD; Mr Nenfort Clifford Gonchen, said over 80 labourers working at the site were stopped by the JMDB.
The staff strength of Duncan International at the ICD is said to be about17 workers.
Gonchen said: “We can’t go to war with the state or federal government over property in the state.”
However, Counsel to Duncan International, Barrister Michael Robinson Idu, cautioned the state government and its agents against any unlawful act.
Idu said they should follow the proper channel of current development.
He said the attention of the ICD management was drawn to the development at the point of humiliation of labourers by the state government.
