The Nigerian Institute of Shipping (NIS) has said that it has commenced the sale of application forms for its professional qualification exams for the May/June 2011 session which is designed for individuals who intend to make a career in shipping and other allied professions.
A document given to our correspondent by the Registrar of the Institute, Mr. Sampson Chima last week revealed that it organizes this Professional Qualifying Examinations (PQE) twice every year between the month of May/June as well as in November/December.
According to the registrar, upon completion of the two stages, graduants will be qualified as chartered shipping practitioners. He stated that there are levels to be undergone in the course and listed them to include: the foundation level, the professional levels one, two and three respectively.
Qualification requirements for those who wish to gain the admission include; senior secondary certificate, GCE, NECO which must include five credit pass in Mathematics, English language among others. Other qualifications include OND, HND, PhD, MBA, professional qualifications from IFFN, POTMAN, FFAM and so on.
