ANLCA Distances Self From Purported Western Zone Election

The National Executive Council (NECOM) of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has distanced itself from a purported Western Zone elections that is reportedly being put together by the faction, which according to the association has refused to work with it.

In a disclaimer signed by the National Secretary of the association; Alhaji Babatunde Mukaila, a copy of which was sent to our correspondent, it clarified that the Chairman of the Association Electoral Committee (ASECO) is still Barrister Raymond Onyimba and not one Chima Obi Best, who is claiming to be the electoral committee chairman.

It alleged that the person whom is parading himself as ASECO chairman is a ‘defaulter’ and as such does not qualify to be chairman of the association electoral commission and as a result the election has no backing of the National.

The disclaimer reads "The National President; Iju Tony Nwabunike has directed a reaction to a false publication signed by one Chima Obi Best, claiming the chairmanship of ANLCA Association Electoral Commission (ASECO)

"For clarification, the Chairman of ANLCA ASECO remained Barr, Oyimba Raymond Enekwechi, as ratified by National Executive Council (NEC) copy of approval hereby attached.

"Consequently, Obi Chima Best being a member/staff of North Atlantic Transit Limited, a defaulter corporate company with personal staff I.D. No. EZ1500000178 is NOT and does NOT qualify, even if any as a non-stakeholder nominal director without single share of his Corporate employer. Status attached.

"The General Public and members of ANLCA are hereby enjoined to disregard such publication, as expired Board of Trustee and non-shareholder ordinary Corporate member does not perform ASECO Committee function in ANLCA".

Meanwhile, briefing some members of the association at the National secretariat also on Tuesday, the Vice President of the association, Dr. Kayode Farinto informed that the chapters’ election will come up between February 10th to February 20th 2021.

He said the NECOM will ensure that credible elections are carried out throughout the chapters, even as he also informed that the association will write letters to members who were present at the purported alleged illegal Airport election conducted by the factional BoTs led by Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha, at the Villa Park hotel to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for gracing such illegal election that has no backing of the NECOM.

Farinto who spoke on behalf of the National President, Tony Iju Nwabunike also set up a committee that will help resolve the lingering crisis at the airport chapter.
