ANLCA NATIONAL PRESIDENT; PRINCE SHITTU RESIGNS FROM CRFFN GOVERNING COUNCIL

The face-off between the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) and the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) over collection and sharing of proceeds from the practicing fees has taken a new dimension as the ANLCA president Prince Olayiwola Shittu has resigned from the governing council of the CRFFN.

Shipping Position Daily recalls that the ANLCA president had taken side with his association over the face-off and  had vowed to resign from CRFFN, if the council fails to back down on its insistence that it would not grant the clearing agents requests for a percentage of the collection, but would only give them annual subvention.
Prince Shittu’s resignation letter dated September 6, 2012, a copy of which was seen by Shipping Position Daily, however did not give reasons for the action.
It will be recalled that ANLCA held an enlarged meeting of its association that was attended by its Board of Trustees members, national, zonal and chapter leaders, where far-reaching decisions were taken concerning the face-off with CRFFN.
Sources at the meeting confirmed to our correspondent that the association’s president had declared his readiness to immediately resign, but was prevailed upon by those at the meeting which included the association’s BoT chairman, Chief Henry Njoku .
The reason for the sudden change could not be ascertained by our correspondent as at press time.
